Baby Monitor Picks up Ghost?

baby monitor ghost capture

This one will be short and sweet because honestly this is just a horrible example of a possible paranormal capture.

First of all the video quality is atrocious and secondly there are so many explanations for this slight anomaly in the video that it boggles the mind that anyone buys this stuff. It could be a bug close to the camera, it could be a reflection from something (a crib mobile?) it could be Elvis returned from the dead to make a new album.

Even most of the comments posted on the You Tube link below say this is either fake or even worse most can’t even spot the ‘ghost’ content in the video at all.

Fail.

But here it is in all of its…ahem…glory:

Vampire Cat Takes ‘Bite’ Out Of Internet

vampire cat Loki

Cats and the internet.

They go together like bread and butter, milk and cereal and any internet based comment page and incessant trolling.

Now we have a cat named Loki who while not the brother of Thor and as far as I know is not a megalomaniac dictator,he does have the teeth of the un-dead.

This week, Loki has become a internet sensation, but there is an account in Japanese folklore of an actual vampire cat…

The Cat of Nabeshima was a hellish feline who murdered the concubine of the Prince of Hizen, who was part of the Nabeshima blood line of Samuri. After killing the prince’s mistress, the cat took the form of his lover, using magick to drain him of his life force.

Soon, the people surrounding the Prince noticed he was becoming very ill. Guards were posted at the Prince’s bedroom door, but they would always fall asleep while on duty at night, a result of the cat’s magick.

One guard, named Ito Soda (non-carbonated I’d expect), would pray for the Prince and requested to guard him while he slept. Soda did not fall prey to the Cat’s sleeping spell and The Cat of Nabeshima could not continue to drain the Prince.

Cat-of-Nabeshima

As the Vampire Cat realized she was not going to be able to feed while Soda protected the Prince, she left the Prince’s side. Soda tracked the shape shifting creature down and attacked her. Unable to win the confrontation with Soda, the Vampire Cat regained her true feline from and fled into the wilderness.

After hearing of Soda’s revelations about his lover, Nabeshima ordered that the cat be hunted down and destroyed, a task they believed they accomplished. However, sightings of the Vampire Cat of Nabeshima persisted, with the last reported sighting taking place as late as 1929.

There are also several versions of this story as well with slight differences to the tale, but this represents the oldest account.

You can see more of the cuter and most likely more safe to cuddle with Loki the Vampire Cat here at her Instagram account.

Ghost Pic From Unknown Haunted Venue

Norfolk ghost

A paranormal ghost hunting group known as the Norfolk Ghost Hunters were in a reputedly haunted location when they captured the anomaly on the right.

Due to the venue still being used regularly, including many events that include children, the name and location of the building was not disclosed.

However, what we seem to have here is an almost full bodied apparition among the rows of pews at a church, which if you know your ghostly lore churches and other holy sites are great place to find ghosts and other paranormal activity.

Still as impressive as this ghost photo is, if you have ever read many of the articles here you will be quite aware that we will always look at things with a slightly skeptical eye, unless it is a reader submitted story.

However, the tale behind this eye catching capture is quite compelling, as told by photographer Jodie Carman to The Mirror:

“We knew there was something there with us that night, we could hear it moving around the hall around us.

But this photo definitely proves it there is no way that you can deny it as the shape is very clear.

When everyone saw it they were at first stunned into silence as everyone had seen me take the picture and knew there was no one in front of me.

Once people calmed down they were just amazed and everyone started treating the hunt a lot more seriously as they realized we had caught some very clear evidence.

There are lots of pictures that appear of ghosts, many of debatable quality but I think a photo like this is exceptionally rare, to get a clear shot, with nobody near it, completely un-tampered with.

It’s quite incredible and I’ve never seen anything like this before.”

Perhaps partially due to the statements above made by Carman, this picture has now been published around the internet over the last two weeks or so with the headline that it could ‘prove’ that ghosts actually exist once and for all.

As much as I would be ecstatic with such a result, much more information and scientific based investigation would  be needed  before anyone can realistically make such a fantastic claim.

This could be motion blur, a trick of the light or any number of photographic trickery, be it the intention to create a fraudulent picture or just a creepy and happy accident.

Still, it is one of the clearer and more impressive ghost photos I have seen of late, so really hoping this one can eventually be proven to be real rather then another photograph that can be eventually explained away as something simple.

Singer Kerry Katona is Haunted by Ghosts?

Capture

Thirty-Four Year old Kerry Katona, who sings in the all girl pop group Atomic Kitten, has recently stated that she she thinks she is experiencing a haunting.

Believing the situation to be serious, the pop star got her house in Oxfordshire cleansed by a psychic medium.

The paranormal events taking place in the residence even mimicked the infamous Amityville Horror when Katona kept finding large amounts of flies in her home.

Thankfully, these flies did not create too much of a buzz as they were dead, but that still did not make Katona feel any safer, as she feels it is a bit more personal:

Atomic Kitten

Atomic Kitten

“I don’t think it was the house, I think it’s me that’s haunted. People think I’m mad but I have always believed there is something around that’s following me.

A team of people came round to investigate what was going on. I have voice recordings on my phone of this thing talking to us. Laura (from my agent’s office) was with me when the team came round – she was crying, she was that scared by what she heard.

At the old [haunted]  house, we had an en suite in the spare bedroom. Every time we walked in the bathroom, the room was full of dead flies. There were hundreds… After we had the house blessed, they never appeared again.”

Perhaps the ghosts are just fans of Katona’s singing talents??

Either that or something is very off key indeed.

A ‘Whopper’ of a New Star for Halloween 2015

burger-king-halloween-whopper-and-sexy-green-poop-halloween-

Halloween is that time of year when we all get to be a little weird.

We get to dress up and play pretend and if your of the right age (and sometimes not), you can go door to door for sugar drenched sweets that have no nutritional value and if you believe the legends could also be poisoned as well.

Everything in moderation is good including the strange and the horrifying but sometimes these things can go too far.

The ‘Halloween Whopper‘ from fast food monolith Burger King and the rampant press over the fact that the specialty burger can make one’s poop turn green is one such example of this sort of indulgence taken beyond it’s proper limit.

For instance, you cab now attend the Halloween party of your choice dressed not as a ghost, witch or black cat, but also as the burger in question along with it’s green aftermath.

News of the burger’s special ability flushed it’s way onto the internet early this month when certain customers of the burger chain that had the special Halloween sandwich started reporting that the burger had turned their poop a rather nice green color. These initial reports were confirmed by others and the Halloween Whopper got it’s fifteen minutes of fame in the internet era.

However, by time I got to this one it was old news, and certainly it’s fifteen minutes had passed. However, the store simply named Halloween Costumes decided to make some money off this weird turn of events by turning the burger and the green stool that follows into a Halloween costume.

Now, considering the subject matter at hand, you could probably sit there and think of many words you may use to describe such a product. Using pure guess work, I would suspect that one of those words would not be ‘sexy,’ which the page for the outfits on Halloween Costumes uses quite regularly:

And you thought that Burger King mascot was scary by himself...

And you thought that Burger King mascot was scary by himself…

“Hmmm, how to broach this subject delicately…wait, the subject is sexy poop, so that’s not humanly possible? Okay! In that case, better include all the poop puns we can!! Now that we understand each other, away we go: Burger King’s limited edition “Halloween Whopper” has been making headlines lately, and not because of its spooky black bun.

Let’s say this #1 headline has more to do with…#2. That’s right, those brave enough to try this festive food have reported that after consuming the burger, their poop turns GREEN! Burger King has assured consumers that the bread contains less than 1% food dye and is completely safe, but that didn’t stop the hashtag #GreenPoop from blowing up on Twitter, and it sureeeee didn’t stop us from parodying this whopper of a story with a Halloween costume idea! Without further a-poo, we bring you a DIY tutorial on how to create a sexy green poop Halloween costume.”

halloween whopper logo mummy eyes green poop shit

As noted above, Burger King officials would not state exactly what ingredient is the culprit for the outbreak of green turds across the United States and elsewhere, but assures the public it is FDA approved and said that the black bun that makes the burger stand out visually is caused by the: “Smoky pepper flavor of A.1. [steak sauce] baked into the bun.”

Regardless, one wonders if the ever waging fast food burger wars will lead to McDonald’s  coming up with a special burger for Christmas which turns your pee red and makes it smell of peppermint candy canes…the new era of cross promotion of fast food with the holidays has begun!

Ghostly Pics: Charlie Noonan’s Demon Woman

Charles noonan photo old woman ghost

When I first started this website, finding material to write about was pretty easy, especially when it came to this site’s most popular category, Ghostly Pics.

From years of casual paranormal reading, I had a mental list of the infamous purported paranormal photos I wanted to write about: The Toys R Us Ghost, The Tulip Staircase Ghosts, The strange figure captured on CCTV from Hampton Court and of course, the photograph this site has become most ‘famous’ for covering, The Amityville Ghost Boy.

However, one photograph, which happened to be one of the creepiest pics I had ever laid eyes on, eluded me. Not because it did not have a great story behind it or because the image was not available to me, but because News From The Spirit World has always taken a skeptical approach to the paranormal, albeit with a ‘I want to believe’ attitude as well.

Recently this photo appeared on Reddit’s /r/creepy sub, and it came with an explanation in the comments about a picture that still gives me the chills every time I look into the eyes of this almost demonic looking old woman.

It gets creepier when you realize this image may have been the last thing a man saw before he vanished off the face of the Earth.

The legend behind the picture says that Charlie Noonan, a folklore enthusiast who would travel across the Southern United States looking for strange and mysterious tales, once encountered a farmer around the start of the 20th century who told him a tale of a strange woman who lived not too far from his property in the panhandle of Oklahoma.

The farmer told Noonan that the woman did not seem ‘quite Human’ and was never seen without a large dog. Noonan set off to find this woman and was never heard from again.

Charlie Noonan’s disappearance made the papers and some time later Noonan’s camera showed up at a pawn shop, with Charlie Noonan’s name still etched onto the side. Recalling the stories about the disappearance, the Pawn shop owner got in contact with Charlie’s wife, Ellie Noonan and she developed the film that was still  unexposed inside the camera.

If you want a bout of insomnia, this pic is for you.

If you want a bout of insomnia, then this pic is for you.

There was only one exposure used on the roll of film and it was the creepy and nightmare inducing snap shot above.

Of course, when I first saw this photo, as we were already in the age of Creepy Pastas and ‘Jump scare’ You Tube videos, I always thought there had to be more to this then met the eye.

Sure enough, in October of this year the blog MB Forbe published a piece that made more logical sense then a ghost/demon women living in rural America with glowing eyes and a scary looking German Shepard.

It seems that the first appearance of the photo was in 2009 on a website called Always Becoming, which focuses on stories about native people and the amazing lives they have lead.

The post where the picture appears is called: ‘Strong Women Part Two‘ and tells the life story of Virginia Romero, a Tiwa Indian living in Taos Pueblo, New Mexico. Virginia lived off the land with her family and lead a hard working and simple life, and the post about this amazing woman is worth reading in its own right.

But the accompanying picture to the piece reveals that Noonan’s brush with something beyond the everyday world was more fiction then fact:

charles noonan real photo orginal ghost urban legend

So someone took this photograph from this blog sometime after late November 2009, reversed the image (As MB Forbe’s points out, most likely to fool anyone trying to do a reverse image search online) and added in a scary looking dog and glowing eyes.

Add in an admittedly simple yet entrancing story about poor ol’ missing Charlie Noonan and his camera and there you have it, an internet legend is born.

Still, it is an amazingly apt example of why anyone working in the paranormal field or even those who just have a passion for reading about the strange and unusual should always keep a open mind in both directions, including the skeptical path.

Ghostly Figure Crosses Road

road ghost pic real scary crosses creepy ghosts true figure

A dash-cam caught some spooky looking footage in July of last year and a couple days ago the video below was uploaded of a french speaking couple traveling along a curvy road at night. Out of nowhere the legs of a figure can be seen up ahead, followed by the figure’s torso as the car’s headlights cast light on the ‘ghost’.

The woman passenger screams as she sees the figure, shouting was translate to English as: “I see, turn around.”

The Daily Mirror claims it is perhaps a ghost but the ‘apparition’ look solid enough, I think it is just some poor sod crossing the street in a bad place:

US Postal Service to Unveil Stamp in The Halloween Capital of the World

halloween-postage-US-2016-Pumpkin-stamps

Late last year the United States Postal service revealed that they will be producing a Halloween set of forever stamps featuring photographs of four carved pumpkins in the spirit of the Fall holiday.

This week they released word that the stamps would make their debut in self proclaimed ‘Halloween Capital of the World,’ Anoka,  Minnesota, which celebrates the holiday with events like large parades, a fitness walk and a house decorating contest.

Choosing Anoka might have been a no brainer for the Postal Service, as the town has an interesting history with the holiday that has gone on for almost one hundred years…

Prior to the Fall of 1920, the teenagers and children of Anoka played pranks on the residents every October 31st, making the date more of a pain then a day to look forward to.

The leadership of the town decided to have a huge celebration on Halloween to distract the younger population from causing mischief. This included a parade where all of the children in town could march down main street and this parade has taken place every year since barring two years during America’s involvement in World War Two.

In 1937 twelve year old Harold Blair took a trip from Anoka to Washington, D.C. to declare the town’s rightful place as the leader in all things Halloween in the nation’s capital.

As for the stamps themselves, they will be unveiled in Anoka on September, 29th, 2016 and the event will include entertainment and presentations, details of which will be announced at a later date.

The stamps, which come in four different designs, are actual photographs of carved pumpkins, as described on the USPS Website:

“In the spirit of Halloween, the Postal Service issues these delightfully eerie stamps featuring photographs of four different jack-o’-lanterns.

These creatively carved pumpkins have been symbols of Halloween in the United States since the late 19th century, not long after celebrations of the holiday began here.

These are the first Halloween-themed stamps issued by the Postal Service. Paul Montanari designed and carved the pumpkins under the art direction of Derry Noyes of Washington, DC.  Sally Andersen-Bruce photographed the lit jack-o’-lanterns used on the stamps.”

The official social media hashtag for these spooky little bits of postage is: #halloweenstamps

In other Halloween related news, Fortune reported that Americans spend more money on candy for the Easter holiday then they do on Halloween, a difference between 2.4 billion dollars spent on Easter candy and 2.1 billion spent on Halloween candy.

This was partially attributed to data that said that eighty percent of Americans planned on celebrating Easter while only sixty percent of them planned on celebrating Halloween.

British Believe in Ghosts More Then God

$

picsay-1379549186

We previously reported on a study that involved both the United States and the U.K. that stated that half of those surveyed in both regions believed in ghosts and the paranormal.

Recently a similar analysis has arisen that focuses on British people that identify as part of the Christian religion and the results while not too shocking do show a change in the belief systems in the Western world.

The analysis was published on YouGov on March 26th and focused on YouGov profiles of twelve-thousand users who identify with the Christian religion and a control group of Thirty-nine-thousand British subjects to represent the overall population.

Results are rather interesting as there seems to be in the data a definite push away from traditional religion as well as showing a sample of how the British feel about ghosts and other paranormal activity, in relation to one of the largest Western faiths.

Among the most interesting stats regarding religion is that the lines between those that believe in the Christian ways that dominated a large chunk of the past in that country are almost split right down the middle with those that might identify as atheists. Forty-six percent said they identified with some form of Christianity while forty-six percent claimed no religious beliefs at all while eight percent represented all other religions.

The analysis also contained data related to the paranormal, when they compared a belief in god, along with some other staples of the Christian faith, such as angels and the devil, with paranormal fare such as ghosts and ideas that are frowned on by Christianity, such as magic, reincarnation and UFOs.

ghost ufo paranorrmal poll yougov god

Interesting comparisons are endless, such as the fact those involved believe less in the devil and the hell he may rule less then ghosts, UFOs and psychic powers.

The leaders in each category of belief and non-belief are also very telling.

Magic and the devil are the least believed in followed by the concept of hell, heaven and a creator.

The most believed in are some form of an afterlife, fate, heaven, a creator and an everlasting soul.

YouGov quite rightly connects the leaders in each category with our fear and fascination with the mystery of death, as it makes sense for us to want to believe in a life after this one or an everlasting soul and very little in hell or the devil, or essentially punishment for our possibly less then stellar behavior on Earth.

Sadly, I am kind of shocked and disappointed by the ‘middle of the road’ placement of belief in UFOs and alien life, mostly because if we look at scientific fact, the size of the universe and recent scientific discoveries, we are being kind of obtuse. I know there are some crazy UFO people out there, but it is more than possible that we are not alone in the universe as a sentient being.

Man Spends 24 Hours In Haunted Bunker For Charity

bunker haunted essex nuclear

Usually I don’t post many news items that involve individual paranormal investigators or groups unless they have captured something interesting, but in this case I wanted to point out this story as it someone within the community doing something for a charitable cause.

Thomas Warrington from Sleaford will spend 24 hours in a haunted nuclear bunker from the 1950’s to raise money for Cancer Research UK in May of this year.

The bunker, which is one hundred and twenty-five feet below ground was decommissioned in the 1990’s and now is used for historical tours. The bunker can be entered from a passageway from the cottage that sits above it in Essex.

Warrington seems to be excited about the opportunity as well, judging from his statements about the upcoming charity event:

“I’ve always wanted to tackle this location as it ticks all the boxes.

It’s supposedly very active and, right up to this day, people are still reporting poltergeist activity.”

I’m very skeptical about the afterlife as I think most things can be explained scientifically. I think you have to be as an investigator. If you go in thinking it’s ghosts – then everything you hear or see becomes a ghost in your mind.”

Warrington also says he has been investigating the paranormal since he was just nine years old and has been on a large number of paranormal investigations.

Picture of Asylum Ghost Captured in Wales?

ghostly-face-asylum-wales-uk-real-pics-ghost-photo-photographThe Daily Mirror recently published a photograph taken by one Adam Smith, who walking past the Brecon and Radnor Lunatic Asylum, which is located in Wales.

The asylum opened in 1903 and was also where German prisoners were kept after capture during World War Two. The site has been fully closed since 1999.

Smith was recently walking by the abandoned structure when he snapped a photo which to show a terrifying face in an upper window of the building.

When uploading the photo to share on social media, Smith was quick to claim his paranormal photo was genuine:

“I caught an epic shot of a ghost at the abandoned Brecon and Radnor Lunatic Asylum.

Maybe it was a patient who had a lobotomy or perhaps a soldier patient from the war or maybe a Nazi prisoner.

Whatever it was, it certainly gave me a fright.”

ghost-asylum-wales-uk-pic-photo-real

Apparently it gave quite a lot of others a fright as well as the picture went viral. So much so that the locals including the government started contacting Smith about the photo as people were going to the abandoned asylum to look for the ghost:

“I started to get messages from local residents and Councillors asking me that I remove it because hundreds of people were turning up at the hospital.”

While I can certainly see the scary looking face in the picture, seemingly dressed in something akin to a white hospital gown, it almost looks like a dummy with a Halloween mask on as well, so my skeptical Spidey-Sense is tingling here a bit.

This, added to the fact that Smith seemed convinced of the picture from the time he took it and at the risk of insulting  Smith, who may be an innocent party, perhaps this picture was some kind of set up.

What do you guys think of this photo? Let us know in the comments below.

Podesta talked about declassifying documents relating to Area 51 in Nevada; an infamous site for stories about military testing, UFOs and alien bodies or hostages, on  a recent interview with CNN.

Hilary Clinton has stated previously that she would like to see documentation relating to Area 51 declassified and Podesta stated that Clinton intends to keep the commitment to do that if elected president and that he will personally hold her to that promise.

Podesta also said: “The U.S. government could do a much better job in answering the quite legitimate questions that people have about what’s going on with unidentified aerial phenomena.”

When directly asked if the United States government has any proof of alien life he stated: “That’s for the public to judge once they’ve seen all the evidence that the U.S. government has.”

Kind of implies that there may be something in this documentation that may shed light on some old mysteries, be they alien craft or secret military test flights.

Podesta also says that the American people can handle the truth.

Legally Haunted: The Ghost of Nyack

$
0
0

ackerly-ghost-nyack-house-haunted-old-1-la veta-place-pl

At first glance, the tale of the alleged haunting of a three level Victorian home at the end of a dead end street in Nyack, New York was not that unusual as far as a ‘usual’ haunting goes.

Strange noises and phantom voices, apparitions appearing near bedsides and objects moving around, seemingly of their own accord.

Most haunted houses however, are not featured in a widely circulated publication like Reader’s Digest, which this one was, but that is not this house’s claim to paranormal fame.

This house has been declared legally haunted by a New York State Supreme Court!

The story begins in the late 1960’s when George and Helen Ackley bought the house at 1 LaVeta Place for themselves and their children.

As they moved in, the neighborhood children told the Ackley’s that the house was haunted, but it may have had more to do with the Victorian House’s state of disrepair at the time more then any real paranormal activity.

Soon enough however, the Ackley’s would find out that there was indeed another prescience in the house.

The Late Helen Ackley

The Late Helen Ackley

Helen and George’s daughter, Cynthia, said that the ghost would shake her bed to get her up in the morning. The ghost got so good at it’s daily duties that Cynthia had to tell it to stop waking her up so early during Spring break, which it promptly did.

Other incidents involved what the Ackley children called “baby rings,” which their mother explained must be gifts from the resident ghosts. These rings would later vanish, never to be seen again.

The rings were not the only gifts the spirit seemed to pass out as the Ackley’s son got coins while Cynthia once got a silver sugar tong.

Helen also reported the ghost watching her while she was painting a room in the house, and claimed that it appeared the ghosts seemed to enjoy the renovations to the old dilapidated property.

A couple of interesting tales besides the above are told at this link, where Cynthia’s second husband shares a couple stories of his own about the property.

The first recollection, where he was nervous and heard whispered conversations in the next room before someone knocking on the door made him jump seemss like it could be his imagination working overtime but the second story is much more interesting:

“It was a clear dark night, Cyn had already fallen asleep and I was drifting.

Then I heard the bedroom door creak, and the floor boards squeak. My back was to the edge of the bed.

Suddenly the edge of the bed by my mid-section depressed down, and I felt something lean against me. I went literally stone stiff! I was speechless and could hardly move. I was able to twist my neck around enough to see a womanly figure in a soft dress through the moonlight from the bay windows.

I felt like she was looking straight at me. After about minute, the presence got up and walked back out of the room. I finally relaxed enough to shake my wife out of sound sleep acting like a toddler who just had a nightmare.”

At one time during the Ackley’s ownership of 1 LaVeta Place, the Ackleys decided that they wanted to share their ghost story with the rest of the world and told the story to Reader’s Digest.

Cover of Reader's Digest May 1977

Cover of Reader’s Digest May 1977

The article, entitled: Our Haunted House on the Hudson, was published in the May 1977 issue and among other things Mrs. Ackley would claim the house was haunted by a “cheerful, apple-cheeked man,” who resembled Santa Claus.

Additionally, the house was written up in the local papers three times between 1977 and 1989, and had been part of the route on a couple of Halloween ‘haunted house tours’ in Nyack.

In a 1982 newspaper article, George Ackley described one of the ghosts that resided with him in his home:

“[The ghost was] dressed in Revolutionary period clothing, perhaps frozen in a time warp, waiting for someone or some reason to move on.”

Caveat Emptor & The Supreme Court:

By 1989, rising taxes and a desire to escape to a warmer climate had Helen Ackley thinking about selling the house, but the market was not doing well at the time.

Eventually, Helen made a deal with Jeffrey and Patrice Stambovsky, a couple from New York City who had no idea of the house’s prior paranormal history. They put $32,000 down on the purchase price of $650,000.

Shortly after, the Stambovsky’s learned that the house was haunted and Jeffery’s pregnant wife wanted no part of such a property so the Stambovsky’s attempted to back out of their contract with Helen Ackley and a lawsuit ensued.

The legal battle would go on for a few years before reaching the New York Supreme Court, who had to decide between the age old saying of ‘buyer beware’ and the fact that much like a leaky roof or mice, you might want to be informed if your new dream home is infested with the souls of the dead.

ackerly-article-ghost-nyack-ny-strombvosky-haunted-

Unlike a vermin issue or repairable damage, who do you call to inspect for ghosts?

The Supreme Court would eventually find in favor of the Stambovsky’s, especially in light of how freely the Ackley’s had disclosed the ghostly goings on in the house in the past, including to several printed publications.

Unable to resist the unique nature of the subject matter at hand however, the justices had a few puns and jokes thrown into the text of the decision for good measure, including quotes from the ghost in Hamlet and a reference to the theme song from the 1984 film ‘Ghostbusters’ by Ray Parker Jr.

However, the most interesting part of the case is in the ruling where the house is declared to be haunted in the eyes of the law, although the other part of the text below also addresses the strange nature of the ‘issue’ with the house at 1 La Veta Place:

“The unusual facts of this case, as disclosed by the record, clearly warrant a grant of equitable relief to the buyer who, as a resident of New York City, cannot be expected to have any familiarity with the folklore of the Village of Nyack. Not being a “local”, plaintiff could not readily learn that the home he had contracted to purchase is haunted.

Whether the source of the spectral apparitions seen by defendant seller are parapsychic or psychogenic, having reported their presence in both a national publication (Readers’ Digest) and the local press (in 1977 and 1982, respectively), defendant is estopped to deny their existence and, as a matter of law, the house is haunted.

More to the point, however, no divination is required to conclude that it is defendant’s promotional efforts in publicizing her close encounters with these spirits which fostered the home’s reputation in the community.

In 1989, the house was included in five-home walking tour of Nyack and described in a November 27th newspaper article as “a riverfront Victorian (with ghost).” The impact of the reputation thus created goes to the very essence of the bargain between the parties, greatly impairing both the value of the property and its potential for resale. “

Certainly this is one of the more interesting cases in all of ghost lore, if for no other reason that it got so much attention and press. The case itself, while not referred to much for future rulings, is routinely discussed and dissected in many law schools.

Pair of Ghostly Children photographed in Wales

A recently published post on the internet brought to light a pair of photographs by The Haunted Hunts paranormal investigation group, which were both taken at The Pen-Y-Lan Hall in Ruabon, Wales.

The photos were taken on two separate dates by two different photographers in different parts of Pen-Y-Lan Hall and it’s grounds but they appear to show the eerie faces of a ghost boy and a ghost girl.

The photo of the boy was taken outside the hall in August of 2015 and it is said on closer inspection of the window on the far upper right of the shot shows it to contain the ghostly face of a young boy, quite near the location where a nursery was once present in the past:

This one I am pretty skeptical about.

I can kind of see a face, but even for something I know is just my mind playing tricks and not the genuine article, this one seems pretty poor to me:

The second photo was taken inside the hall during one of The Haunted Hunts investigation tours to Pen-Y-Lan hall and was taken by a tour guest.

While I am still pretty sure it is just my mind making sense out of random shapes, it is visually much more impressive then the one above and even a tiny bit creepy:

While no one can know for sure if these photos are of ghosts or not, they are interesting and hopefully the more they investigate Pen-Y-Lan the more impressive evidence they will come up with.

School Closed After Students Aggravate Ghosts

A school in Kelantan, Malaysia was shut down last week after students and staff reported the presence of a ‘Djinn’ or ghost.

SKM Pengkalan Chepa 2 school has now reopened after a few exorcisms by holy men and a witch doctor.

The ghost was  caught on a camera phone by a student at SKM Pengkalan and was posted to Twitter under the screen name @PhilipGolingai.

The reason for the haunting has been lain at the feet of an interesting party…the children who attend the school.

Although we reported on a remotely similar case of a school being closed due to possession by ghosts in Kenya in 2013, the blame in that case was put on demonic possession and possible witchcraft.

The officials at the school in Malaysia theorize that the students themselves may have angered the spirits by leaving trash around the school.

While it is possible this is simply another case of mass hysteria, some staff and students at the school have reported seeing a black figure in the hallways of the school while one teacher at the school went as far as to say a black figure had attempted to enter her body.

Of course no one can prove one way or another if this is a legitimate haunting or simply local cultural beliefs allowing people to let their imaginations run wild.

Was the school actually haunted by this black figure or was this a case of mass hysteria?

Jessica-Chastain-ghost-huntmen-england-sexy-redhead-Actress Jessica Chastain, whose credits include films such as The Help and Zero Dark Thirty, encountered a ghost while filming her most recently released work: The Huntsman: Winter’s War.

While staying in a house near where the film was being made in London, Chastain believes she made contact with a ghost, one that seems to like to play with electricity and has a tendency to keep the living residents of the house awake at night.

Chastain spoke about her paranormal experience while a guest on The Late Late Show With James Corden:

“I really think [the house] was haunted…

We were doing a lot of night scenes and I came home at like 3.30 in the morning and I was so tired, and I had everything blacked out, all the lights.

I had the one chandelier on a little bit and as I started to take my clothes off to put my pajamas on, the light started to dim.

And I thought, ‘OK, I might be having a stroke’. This is what happens, the lights slowly start to go dim. And then every light in the room, even the bedside tables, slowly started to go on – swear to God.

Like I was on some alien spaceship, all white and then  it went pitch black.

I actually said, because I was so tired, ‘OK I acknowledge you… I understand you are here and I don’t want to kick you out but I’m just very tired so please let me sleep’.

And it never happened again.”

James Corden suggested that the supposed paranormal experience could have been the result of a power surge or an electrical fault but Chastain was convinced her ghostly encounter was genuine:

Macquarie Fields train station was built in 1888 just outside the city of Sydney, Australia and has remained in use as a train station for the area ever since.

Along the way the train station has acquired more then just lost baggage and passengers who missed their train.

Macquarie Fields is also the home of a ghostly girl that appears at the station long after all the trains have stopped running at night and the passengers are all at their destinations.

This lost spirit has seemed to have lost her ticket to the other side…

The ghostly girl has been spotted sitting on the tracks either staring at people as they pass by or just crying, and it has been said you can also hear her scream at times as well at night after the station has closed.

One report tells of a teenage ghost girl with blood staining the front of her dress who will roam aimlessly along the station’s platform.

Macquarie Fields railway station australia ghost girl

According to Wikipedia, there was a woman who would meet her demise at Macquarie Fields, when a woman by the name of Emily Gengeson was struck and killed by a train in July of 1906.

Are the sightings of a ghost at Macquarie Fields train station genuine? Is the ghost girl the lost soul of Emily Gengeson or some other sprit or is it an urban legend created by locals to relieve the boredom waiting for the next train to arrive?

Reader’s Creepers: “Something Weird Happened at Two A.M.”

anonymous-376540_640

Welcome to News From the Spirit World’s True life Paranormal Stories, sent to us by NFSW readers from around the world, and the first one is an interesting tale that although strange, scary and downright creepy, might have a logical solution.

If you have a similar story or any paranormal experience, photos, audio or video you would like to share with us, you can always submit it to the NFSW Facebook Page or the NFSW Reddit Sub and it could end up being published here on the main site.

We surely got a great tale to start with from “F” on our Reddit page…what would you do if it were late at night, you were alone in your bed when it felt like something might have crawled into your bed with you?

Then you try to scream, but nothing comes out…

Here is the story “F” told us in her own words, only slightly edited for content and clarity:

“I’m not entirely sure if this story is paranormal or not, but it certainly freaked me the hell out, and I know for a fact that there was no possible way I could have hallucinated this. I guarantee that this is 100% true.

There is almost no backstory to this event, as it most likely wasn’t triggered by any events in my daily routine. I’ve never done any sort of satanic ritual, or used a Ouija board or anything like that. To be honest, I don’t know why the hell this happened, but here’s what happened…

I had woken up in the middle of the night at around two A.M. Not unusual for me, and I felt incredibly awake. Not remotely drowsy or half asleep.

But as I had to go and do a few hours of pretty difficult volunteer work later that day, I pulled the covers over my head and tried to get back to sleep.

girl in bed

I laid in bed for minutes, trying to force myself back into sleep but it didn’t work. I was just far too awake. So I simply laid there, with the covers over my head and my eyes open, thinking about the crazy stuff that happened this year, when I feel something small and quite light crawl on top of the sheets over my legs.

I don’t own any sort of pet, but if I hadn’t told you that, you may have assumed it was a cat or a dog wanting to snuggle up to me. But no, I have no pets, so this strange feeling of a light, four-legged animal crawl over me during the middle of the night was an immediate alarm that something was seriously wrong.

I wanted to sit up and see what it was, but there was something indescribable that made me freeze exactly where I was. Completely motionless. Trying to control my breathing so my chest didn’t rise and fall noticeably. Trying to control my heartbeat so it was quiet and slow, but that was impossible for obvious reasons.

Then I felt a hand push down on my chest. Hard. On my ribs, maybe just a little higher. I couldn’t move. I wanted to, but I couldn’t.

It wouldn’t have been my mum. There’s no way in hell she would go into my room and push down on my chest so hard it hurt whilst she thought I was asleep. She just wouldn’t do that. And besides, I felt four legs like a cat or some animal when it crawled over my legs. I can’t explain why the hand felt human when I felt four small legs.

Then I tried to scream. Nothing came out. It should have: I put all my energy into that scream, but it was silent. It seemed like my body wasn’t under my control, and something was preventing me from doing the things I wanted to.

The covers were still over my head, so I couldn’t see a thing. I was panicking, but it stopped suddenly.

I flung the covers off myself, and saw nothing. There was nothing there. My bedroom door was shut. There was no way an animal could have gotten in. I don’t have pets. And my mum wouldn’t do something like that…

So what the hell happened? I’ve got no explanation.

I know it happened. I was sure of it. I know it happened because I stayed awake for another half an hour watching YouTube videos to take my mind off it, and trying to calm myself down from a bit of a panic attack.

Whatever happened wasn’t normal. I know that.

This story took place last night, so if something strange happens again tonight and any night after, I’ll let you guys know…”

Pretty creepy stuff to be sure, but I love “F’s” inquisitive nature, and always admire when someone is looking to science and logic to explain a paranormal event first, especially in the days of multiple ghost hunting television shows with questionable production values and pictures of dust claiming to be ‘orbs’ …it is actually refreshing.

“F’s” tale made me immediately think of an experience I had myself in the recent past while attempting to quit smoking using nicotine patches. The patch has been known to induce nightmares in certain subjects and for me it brought another sleep based aberration: sleep paralysis.

Usually sleep paralysis will occur when a person is either about to fall asleep or is beginning to wake up and it involves some of the exact symptoms “F” describes in her story above.

A painting from 1781 by John Fuseli titled "The Nightmare," which depicted the feelings brought on by Sleep Paralysis

A painting from 1781 by John Fuseli titled “The Nightmare,” which depicted the feelings brought on by Sleep Paralysis.

Additionally over the centuries, sleep paralysis has been the cause of many false reports of ghosts, demonic possession and other now questionable paranormal experiences.

However, through the personal experience of having sleep paralysis occur to your humble NFSW editor on two separate occasions, I can assure you that the experience is one that I feel is so frighting and so odd from anything you might have experienced before that it is easy to see how someone could mistake the symptoms of sleep paralysis for the paranormal.

Reported symptoms include:

  • An inability to move your body, open your eyes or speak
  • A feeling of a weight on your chest, sometimes as if someone is sitting on it
  • Feelings that someone is in the room with you or watching you. Some people have actually experienced hallucinations of figures, most commonly at the end of their beds

Sleep paralysis is believed to be caused by the fact while you are experiencing REM sleep, your brain must shut down your bodies motor functions and speech to stop you acting out your dreams. The subject awakes while this process is occurring leading to all the symptoms described above and more.

Well “F”, we were happy to find a probable cause for your experience that gave you some clarity on the matter and a bit of peace as well.

I also want to thank you for sharing that story with us and if anything else ever happens or you have an update we hope you let us know.

And remember we want to hear YOUR true life paranormal stories and see your paranormal photos and videos as well. If you have something to share with us, please stop by the News From the Spirit World Facebook Page or the NFSW Reddit Sub and let us know, we would be thrilled to hear from you!

Ghosts on the ‘Move’ in Malacca Village

A strange rash of hauntings has arisen in the village of Kampung Lapan in Malaysia and one Mohd Zamri Bashir, a local medical practitioner believes he has the answer.

In an article published by the New Straits Times and quoted by Free Malaysia Today online, Bashir claims that the ghosts that haunt the village are actually moving or migrating from place to place, apparently to be able to explain the large number of purported paranormal events in the area.

We have heard of many kinds of apparitions, ghosts or spirits and indeed some tales say they move either to follow an individual or an object but never have we heard of them migrating to sit in tress as in the above ‘ghost’ photograph.

But according to Bashir, this is exactly the case, that these ‘Jinns‘ are migrating to different locations across the local area:

“These creatures are like humans. They are migrating from one place to another…

In such instances, the apparitional disturbances are only temporary and will end when the creatures head for their next destination.”

Additionally, Bashir was quoted as saying that these Jinns were able to take both Human and animal forms and that rise in paranormal activity was possibly due to certain unnamed individuals “dumping ghosts” in Kampung Lapan.

Mohd Zamri Bashir

In my opinion the picture of the ‘ghosts’ leaves much to be desired and the idea of the village working as some sort of ghostly stop over along a longer journey elsewhere and the idea that someone was dumping ghosts in the area seem a bit far fetched.

Perhaps the ghosts found better accommodations elsewhere and are truly moving house but more likely this is a case of local superstition and an outbreak of coincidence and overactive imaginations, not ghosts.

Besides why would ghosts need to move, to avoid higher property tax or just get away from those pesky Human neighbors who sleep all night and make noise all day?

What do you guys think?
